Red 5 Studios, the creators of the awesome FPS MMO, Firefall have really been taking into account all of the feedback they have been receiving throughout the beta so far.
Patch v0.5.1409 is the direct result of all the feedback given. Within this patch lies changes to everything, literally everything within the game world all in the name of making it a fun experience for all.
Players can look forward to:
Core combat changes - making combat more fun and skillful, changes have been made to all kinds of things to enable this to happen such as run speed changes, Jump height, weapons abilities and even removed a class and put a better one in, the Biotech.
Player progression - the previous levelling system has been ditched in favor of a more fitting Battleframe tier system - like weight classes for your battleframe. The game no longer dictates what you get at each leveling interval instead giving you points to put into whatever you want.
Changes to the crafting system - instead of rigid materials needed, some of them can be swapped out to different items, but it will directly affect what stats you get at the end of things.
Battleframe Garage - was previously called the 'Loadout Modification Terminal' now known as the Battleframe Garage, you can access this from any of the major citys via the locations where the Loadout Modification Terminals were previously. Gone is the 2D UI system, and now you get to see your and change your character's equipment in glorious 3D!
World has been extended - giving you more room to run around, collect materials via tamping and quest. New quests have been added to these bigger areas also.
New PVP map, Shanty Town - Large scale map for you to take on your foes and fight to the death.
Dueling - You can now challenge any player you see in the open world to a pvp duel, Squad Challenge Mode allows you to challenge a squad of players out in the open world to a larger scale duel. Observer mode has also been introduced, which allows you to watch PVP battles as they happen.
So lots and lots of changes have come in with this recent patch, if you have not played the beta for a little while then we recommend booting it up, it's like a whole new game!
But don't take our word for it, the video below shows James Macauley, VP of Development talking about all the changes in a bit more depth.
