First Borderlands 2 DLC Due October 16th

Earlier this week, Gearbox Software announced that they were bringing forward the release of the new character class for shooty-loot-em-up Borderlands 2. At the time it was unclear whether the early release was due to the team being able to finish development and certification of the update ahead of schedule, or whether head honcho Randy Pitchford was just feeling generous.

Having discovered this magical newly created hole in their release schedule, Gearbox have decided that October 16th would actually be the ideal date to release the first full DLC expansion - Captain Scarlett and Her Pirate's Booty.

The unsurprisingly swashbuckling themed content update will be surprisingly lacking in water, with players battling bandits in the new desert town of Oasis. In an attempt to completely jumble up references, the DLC will be almost Star Wars themed; Pitchford himself describes the landscape as "more like Tatooine than an ocean", with sand worm enemies and a hovering sand skiff vehicle amongst the new additions.

When released, Captain Scarlett and Her Pirate's Booty will be available as an individual purchase or as part of the Season Pass which will also include three subsequent DLC packs.

Anyone else think this is a little to close to the main release? at least give us time to finish the game first!
