It's Jaws To The Floor As 11 Minutes Of Ground Zeroes Impresses Everyone

Words have literally escaped us, the footage from Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes is astonishing. We knew the FOX Engine would be something of a powerhouse and possibly one of the greatest achievments to come from Kojima Productions but once you see it in action, mind = blown.

The footage starts out with a military group heading to a prisoner of war camp and displays some very dark and brooding undertones, especially when you have a child with a headphone jack stuck in his chest. While the footage is all in Japanese, we do have English subtitles for you to keep track of what is going on. Towards the end we get to see Big Boss in some sneaky action.

We hope you're as bowled over with this in-game footage as we were. Enjoy.

Not to be grumpy or anything, but didn't Kojima say his announcement would be industry changing or something? A new game that looks fantastic but the 40 seconds of gameplay shows nothing new, new social game and a movie that'll be likely ****... impressive engine aside that's not even worthy of a mild gasp.

Anyways, engine looks impressive as hell. I'd like to see it on a console out of sheer curiosity.

New on GameGrin. You've heard of The Cynical Brit, the self proclaimed UK's number 1 commentator on Youtube well now meet his North of the Border counterpart The Irritable Scotsman, bringing you argumentative and disgruntled commentary on the gaming industry.

Actually really ******* laughed.

I'm genuinely curious though. There's nothing industry shaking about any of it. I was thinking maybe I completely missed something obvious or something.

It's more of the leap in engine capabilities rather than the game itself being impressive. Granted the game may be another interactive cutscene ala MGS4 but the engine underneath is undeniably powerful and the visuals look awesome. Potentially something to rival Unreal Engine 4 here.

Aye the engine does look impressive as hell, I'm just left with a Molyneux vibe here, though. Something will be huge, it's (in relative terms) nothing. They should be friends. They should do announcements together, and games. They could make a game where after 17 hours of good looking cut-scenes you tap away at a cube then get an ending that makes no sense.

I really would like to see some console footage though, just to see how it runs/looks on one. Anything released on FOX that takes my fancy I'll get on PC so it doesn't affect me, just curious to see how far they can push them.

40 seconds gameplay in a 11 minute video sounds about the normal ratio for Metal Gear anyway.
