Deus Ex Mankind Divided "Augment your Pre-Order" Program Cancelled

Deus Ex Mankind Divided "Augment your Pre-Order" Program Cancelled

After announcing an unusual and poorly received pre-order program back in August, Square Enix and Eidos Montréal have had to rethink the whole thing due to "a resounding amount of negative feedback". The program had tiers unlock with additional rewards when the pre-orders hit a certain amount. Almost like a Kickstarter stretch goal where if a certain target is not hit then that reward will not be given out.

That has all changed now and Square have announced that all content will be available to anyone who pre-orders the game or makes a purchase on the day of release, 23rd February 2016. It's worth noting that that date will definitely be the release day because the final tier of the program offering an early release (four days earlier) has been cancelled, so this will not be happening.

It's nice to see a company responding to the feedback of its community even before a game is released, however one has to ask why they ever thought this was a good idea in the first place.

Well that didn't take long. Good. We never asked for this.

It's hilarious that they've made the video in the older news piece private, now. Apparently it had thousands of thumbs down and only a few hundred thumbs ups. Taking the Kickstarter thing further, if you back at the £30 tier, you get the £30 reward. If you preordered Mankind Divided, there was no guarantee you would get your reward tier, because they decided their secret numbers weren't met.
