Elite: Dangerous Coming to Xbox One

Coming out of GDC is the trailer above, which reveals Frontier Development's plans to make the console version of Elite: Dangerous exclusive to Xbox One.

Announcing on the forums, founder David Braben explained that this decision was due to knowing the hardware so well thanks to ScreamRide and Zoo Tycoon. It helps that the Xbox One is running on software similar to Windows, we're sure.

It will not be a stripped down version, either, and will run on the same galaxy state. He didn't specify whether PC and Xbox One gamers would be able to play together, but it does mean both will contribute to the ongoing wars, power struggles and community goals.

Finally, the announcement spoke about not only the next major update - named Wings, currently being beta tested - but also the following one. It was only a name and that it's coming in the spring, but plenty to speculate over: Powerplay.
