Elite: Dangerous Mercenary Edition Announced

Elite: Dangerous Mercenary Edition Announced

Elite: Dangerous has had preorders available since it started it's very successful Kickstarter campaign. So it's no surprise that their Mercenary Edition has just hit the online store for preorder.

It is currently available for £35.00 / €40.00 / $50.00 - cheaper than the £39.99 / €49.99 / $59.99 price of the normal edition upon release. Of course, being a special edition means it also has special stuff!

  • An additional Eagle fighter ship docked in a secondary location
  • Exclusive pack of ship paint
  • A day one ship decal
  • A digital players guide
  • A digital concept art book
  • Plus additional in-game benefits and other digital goodies to be announced over the coming weeks

What's more, if you have previously preordered (through a Kickstarter pledge or via the online site) or have been playing the alpha or beta, you're already upgraded to the Mercenary Edition!

They also highlight the first point - an additional Eagle ship. But surely, you say, how can you fly two ships at once? Well you don't have to! You can own an entire fleet of ships if you want, and keep them in various locations across human-controlled space! Here's their example:

For example you could have your long range Asp Explorer fully equipped for exploration, in a station near the frontier, kitted out to the max with the various scanners and radar equipment, drives, fuel scoops needed for deep space exploration, and keep your combat-ready Viper in the garage for when that plum mission comes up, or when you want to take revenge on one of your fellow explorers.

So if you haven't already preordered - grab the Mercenary Edition before the game launches for PC hopefully in the next few months.
