Alex Garland's 'The Beach' is a novel about backackers in Thailand who are tired of city life and society and go out to discover a beach paradise.
The story was first adapted into a film in 2000 by director Danny Boyle (Sunshine, Slumdog Millionaire) which starred Leonardo DiCaprio, Virginie Ledoyen and Guillaume Canet. It is now being adapted into a television series courtesy of Fox and being written by Andrew Miller (The Secret Circle, Nothing, Boys And Girls).
