Fuel Rats Celebrate 2000 Rescues

Anyone who has played Elite Dangerous for a few hours will inevitably run short of fuel. Whether you were hauling freight, chasing a pirate, hunting bounties or just milling around, it's easy to get carried away. If you don't have a fuel scoop, or even if you forget to use it, then you're going to be making your insurance company happy.

Thankfully there is a group of very friendly individuals who are willing to bring you fuel! Enough fuel to reach the next starport, even!

But there's no way to give people credits -- what happens if you weren't hauling cargo?! Better news -- this service is free. There are a few items you can purchase with real money, such as t-shirts, mugs and stickers, available here.

The above video shows the 2,000th rescue, and explains the whole process.

If you're in need of fuel, head over to their site to tell them where you are! They also put together this quick-and-easy guide:

Click on the window [on the site] to activate a chat session. Put your CMDR name (or GamerTag if you play on X-Box[sic]) in the window and hit “Connect”. You’ll be able to see which Fuel Rats are logged in and instantly talk with everyone. If there is a “Dispatch” he/she’ll be the one assigning people to help you.

If you find yourself stranded, write your current position (system name or coordinates), log out to main menu and type the following in the chat :

“RATSIGNAL – CMDR Name/GamerTag, PC/Xbox, Current System, Oxygen remaining (if you saw a countdown)”

If you say “RATSIGNAL” it will get everyone’s attention. Please be considerate, this is a service for emergencies.

If you’re just checking out the service to say “hello” that’s fine, you can type “/join #ratchat” to open the chat room.
