John Romero and Adrian Carmack Launch Kickstarter for New Game Blackroom

Two developers involved with Quake and Doom have reunited and are working on a new game, titled Blackroom. The PC FPS is targeting a Winter 2018 release, though, so you have a while to wait.

As seen on the game's Kickstarter, it is said to be "a return to fast, violent and masterful play on the PC."

The pitch goes on to give a taste of the story and gameplay to come from Blackroom.

"In the single-player campaign, you step into the shoes of Dr. Santiago Sonora, Chief hNode Engineer at HOXAR... Peering into your mind and tapping into your deepest memories and fears, however, it’s clear that the BLACKROOM is not all fun and games.

Your combat and perceptual skills will be put to the test as you run, gun and strafe your way through BLACKROOM’S abstract and sometimes surrealistic levels. Lifts, switches, secret rooms, and twisted hidden passageways challenge your skill. Increasingly, more depraved and terrifying aberrations enter the world around you. Are you prepared to destroy what BLACKROOM has made real? Or will you lose sense of what is real and what is not within BLACKROOM?"

Bo

Blackroom's Kickstarter also details some weapons, which range from your basic handgun, the 'Gloxel', to a Mass Effect-style singularity field, subtly named the 'Blackhole Bomb'.
