Kickstarter of Note: The Rabbit and The Owl

The Rabbit and The Owl is a charming little Co-Op platformer that plays with the idea of negative space. If you're not sure what negative space is, it's the use of blank spac ein an image to show another image. Think the 1 in the Formula 1 Logo or the arrow in the FedEx logo (if you didn't know there was a one or an arrow, you're welcome)

The Co-Op nature of the game is very important throughout. Developer Gary Chao was keen to create an experience for players to share, rather than just another platform title. It's based around very simple controls in order to make it an experience that everone can partake in. The developer told us:

"At PAX West 2016, we had a very successful exhibition of the game at the PAX Rising area, showing it to over a thousand people. Over 90% of the people who tried it loved the game. While most players were friends or couples, we were surprised to see that the game even brought together complete strangers who would talk through the puzzles and become friends by the end of the demo! Many expressed the same sentiments that it was an experience that they didn't know they wanted, especially with their significant other or best friend."

"Some people came back multiple times to show new friends - we even had one come back with her mother, and even she was able to complete the demo and have a lot of fun even though she was new to using a controller. The Rabbit and the Owl is a great experience for people who want to play something meaningful together without ever feeling like one is being a burden."

Kickstarter backers have already shown their faith in the game, which has doubled its planned funding target. The small developer is now looking to his stretch goals, with online co-op being one of the next goals for the campaign. If you fancy helping him get there, then you can view the Kickstarter in progress here.
