Ongoing Steam Saga on Paid Skyrim Mods Worsens

Over the weekend, gamers have taken to various ways to voice their displeasure on internet forums, with the Steam Review feature definitely not spared the brunt of the growing discontent. In particular, players have been making use of the user review system to downvote the game.

Currently, as it stands, the game has been down-voted to a 'Very Positive' 90% from an 'Overwhelmingly Positive' 98% before the saga started. Definitely not positive at all.

low review scoreOn top of that, the negative reviews have been gathering votes, promoting them to the front page of the user reviews, with a sampling shown below. Most reviews currently shown on the front page have more or less similar content voicing displeasure about the paid mod implementation.

bad reviewsThe petition set up at Change.org is definitely gathering steam (sorry for the pun in more ways than one, couldn't help it), having exceeded the 100k signatures mark and going strong at 108k as of writing.

petitionElsewhere on the internet, Valve's CEO, Gabe Newell, seems to have realised that they have 'done something to piss off the internet,' and setting up an Ask Me Anything (AMA) session on popular /r/Gaming Reddit to gather opinions and questions about the recent unpopular decision. It has gathered 16k comments as of writing.

One of the paid mods was removed, because it had someone else's content in it? The creator said that he couldn't seek permission to use it, as he was under NDA, but was going to talk to them.

They removed the banner on Steam page today, but it seems business as usual for the paid mods just now.

For some weird reason I can't access Workshop and the Community Hub right now though, wonder what's wrong.
