Problems Arise at the Launch of The Division's First Incursion

After a rather smooth launch, free of too many major incidents, Tom Clancy’s The Division seemed to be managing demand well. The online shooter/RPG hybrid is proving a hit with many players and whilst there's been a little bit of server congestion, most players have found that the game runs quite well for them. The first major update, Falcon Lost does not seem to have launched so smoothly.

There have been reports from a number of Xbox One players that the update has caused their characters to be deleted, destroying hundreds of hours of progress for some players and understandably upsetting them. There's also a number of players reporting that a glitch causes some to get caught in a never ending loop of being reloaded back at the entrance to the Incursion in matchmaking mode.

The issues were so bad that Martin Robinson of gaming website Eurogamer was largely unable to complete his impressions article, having to produce it much shorter than he had initially planned. A combination of bugs, server crashes and glitches caused the writer to have far less gametime than he had anticipated.

It's still early days for the game, and generally it's been well received (we gave it a solid seven out of ten here on GameGrin) so hopefully, it's a case of a few patches and back to normal service, but Ubisoft have clearly given themselves additional work to do here and undone some of the goodwill they earned with a trouble free initial launch.
