Wildstar will go Free-to-Play this fall

Much like we suspected last month, it has finally happened.

NCSOFT and Carbine Studios Have announced that Wildstar will go Free to Play in Fall of this year.

Following the transition this fall, all players will be able to level to 50, acquire all Amps and abilities, and participate in all dungeons, raids, adventures, shiphands, and PvP. The entirety of the game will be open for players to explore for free. The studio has sworn that despite this transition, they still want to deliver a AAA level experience.

An optional membership will still be available for various convenience and enhancement bonuses for Wildstar. NCoin will enable players to buy convenience or cosmetic items yet the Studio promises you cant buy power. To learn more about this transition, go to Wildstar's website.

Is there anyone who didn't see this coming? WoW is going to be the only subscription-based MMO for another 3-4 years, then realise that the F2P titles are still making quite a bit of money. Then in another 5-6 years after that, they will begin talking about going F2P.

By 2030, there will be no more subscription-based MMOs.
