10 Games That I Am Asking Santa for This Christmas

10 Games That I Am Asking Santa for This Christmas

Every year, I have a list of games that I want to check out but just haven’t got around to playing yet. These 10 games are titles that I would love to get as a gift this year, and many of them were released in 2025. As a result, they aren’t super cheap just yet, but judging by their ratings on Steam, they all look like quality titles.

KOTD title4

Kingdoms of the Dump
I am so intrigued by this turn-based, SNES-style RPG that is set in a fantasy world of garbage and features an adorable lead character. You play as a Trash Can Knight, named Dustin Binsley, who is on a mission to fight his way through the Five and a Half Kingdoms of the Dump. There are no random encounters here, and combat features timed hits that inflict extra damage or allow you to block attacks.

windswept2

Windswept
The title screen alone should make you want to play this game. With its cartoony art style and vibrant colours, the characters, a duck named Marbles and a turtle named Checkers, pop up from the screen. These two are trying to find their way home after being swept away in a storm. This buddy platformer has tonnes of things to collect and plenty to do, so it is sure to keep you busy for a while.

neoninferno2

Neon Inferno
In 2055, New York City is beyond saving. You will need to blast your way through this cyberpunk city in a 2D run-and-gun gallery shooter. It’s brightly-coloured, packed full of neon, and the action seems never-ending. It is guaranteed to get your adrenaline pumping and looks like a title you won’t want to put down.

constance2

Constance
You take on the role of a young artist who uses a paintbrush to attack her enemies in this 2D, hand-drawn action adventure. Constance is trying to escape from a colourful, crumbling world that is being shaped by her declining mental health. This metroidvania platformer looks beautiful, and Constance was actually my grandmother’s name, all the more reason to pick this title up.

forestheroes2

Forest Heroes
To switch things up, we have a strategic tower defence game with roguelike deck-building elements. You control adorable animals fighting for their lives, so who wouldn’t want to give this game a try?

escapethemadempire3

Escape the Mad Empire
This is a roguelike, party-based RPG dungeon crawler that looks to deliver intense tactical combat. You play as a band of heroes attempting to save your lives (and your sanity) while upgrading your base and managing resources as you try to escape from the Mad Empire.

jackboxparty3

Jackbox Party 11
Who doesn’t love a chaotic party game played on your mobile phone with a group of friends? With tonnes of mini-games that have you decorating cookies, answering trivia questions, or even creating your own sound effects for prompts, this entry looks like an absolute blast. The limited demo was so much fun, and I’m excited to try all the different mini-games included here.

CATO Buttered Cat3

CATO: Buttered Cat
I am a huge cat fan, so I’m instantly interested in games where the main character is a kitty. CATO is a puzzle platformer based on the “Buttered Cat Paradox”, where you play as both the cat and a piece of toast. With over 200 levels, 70 skins, mini-games, and boss fights, this highly rated game looks like a fun time.

MotionRec2

MotionRec
Unique gameplay always catches my attention when I’m browsing for new games. In MotionRec, you record yourself performing an action, then replay it to progress through the next area. It’s an interesting mix of puzzle-solving and 2D platforming.

tinythor3

Tiny Thor
This game has been sitting on my Steam wishlist since 2018! Although it was finally released in 2023, I still haven’t picked it up. Tiny Thor is a Viking-themed platformer that stars a young Thor, using his mighty hammer to explore the Northern Realms and battle mythical creatures blocking his path as he strives to become a god. Since this game is now a few years old, it’s much cheaper than many of the other titles on this list.

These are just some of the games I’m hoping to get for Christmas. They all look fantastic and won’t cost a fortune to pick up. Even if Santa doesn’t deliver, at least they can be bought without breaking the bank!
