6 Open World PC Games You Forgot Are Coming Out In 2022
Open world PC games are often some of the most hotly anticipated, and 2022 looks to be another excellent year for gamers around the world. There are loads of amazing open-world games currently in the pipeline, and as we saw at E3 2021, it won't be long before we get to experience these worlds for ourselves.
Open world games are described as any videogame that gives players freedom over how they explore the world and approach the missions. While games were traditionally linear, many modern games are now being designed with an open world sandbox for players to experience and enjoy. Famous examples include GTA, Red Dead Redemption and many more. While open world games used to be restricted to RPGs, there are plenty of adventure, first-person shooter and sandbox open world games available.
If you're interested in the latest open-world PC games, we've made this list of the top releases due for a 2022 release. If you're looking for a different way to play while you wait, you can also enjoy online gaming at casinos. There are fully licensed ways to do it online from Colorado, and you can play for free or for real money.
Elden Ring
Elden Ring is perhaps the most anticipated game of 2022, with lots of fans eagerly awaiting the release date. The game is made by the team behind the hugely successful Dark Souls franchise, a series that has more or less spawned its own genre of games. As well as promising challenging gameplay and more bosses than you can shake a stick at, Elden Ring's most exciting aspect is the narrative. The storyline of the game has been written in collaboration with George R.R. Martin, most famous for the Song of Fire and Ice series, which was adapted into HBO's Game of Thrones.
Stalker 2: Heart of Chernobyl
The original Stalker: Shadow of Chernobyl is widely known as one of the best survival horror games of all time, mixing an eerie atmosphere with terrifying creatures and extremely challenging levels. While the original was a game with a linear design, the sequel will be a completely open world and allow players to explore the zone at the heart of the irradiated wasteland of Chernobyl. The rest of the gameplay will be similar, however, and fans can also expect a huge improvement on graphics.
ARK: Survival Evolved 2
ARK combines a very fun online survival game with dinosaurs, a winning combination for sure. The original has been extremely successful for a relatively low budget game, and the online play really helped to bring it to a wider audience. No one is quite sure how the sequel will look, but the open world is confirmed, as is the presence of Vin Diesel, who has previously appeared in games such as The Chronicles of Riddick.
Starfield
Bethesda is the undisputed king of open world games, having produced both The Elder Scrolls and Fallout franchises. Starfield is an open world science fiction game based on exploration that allows players to live out their fantasy of exploring new worlds. This is the first brand new game that Bethesda has released in quite some time, and it definitely has fans of the RPG genre excited to see what it will be like.
Tiny Tina's Wonderlands
Borderlands 1, 2 and 3 were massively successful open-world looter shooters with plenty of interesting enemies and lots of gore. One of the most popular DLC expansions for Borderlands 2 was Tiny Tina's Assault on Dragon Keep, and it's this expansion that Tiny Tina's Wonderlands will be based on. The game features RPG elements as well as an open world and the return of Borderlands' unique art style.
Baldur's Gate 3
The Baldur's Gate series is well-known among RPG aficionados for its thrilling tactical gameplay and Dungeons and Dragons-inspired setting. Baldur's Gate 3 is now available to the public in the form of Early Access, although it won't be fully released until at least 2022.
