Apex Legends Ranked Leagues: Everything You Need To Know

Along with the official launch of the second season in Apex Legends that took place on 2nd July, the developers have also introduced to the public a new Ranked Leagues mode.

According to the Respawn, their battle royale Apex Legends is an extremely dynamic game, which means it takes quite a lot of effort and time to master it. The idea behind the new mode is to give competitive players more opportunities for showing off their skills and gaining recognition.

What is this mode all about and how it will work? In this article, we are going to guide you through the main points that you should know!

Aims

The developers report that integrating Ranked Leagues has several major objectives:

  • To make the game even more fun for players;
  • To ensure competitive integrity by doing matchmaking based on the players’ skill levels;
  • To allow players to measure their skills in the game;
  • To reward competitive players for investing their effort and time in the game;
  • To create enough space at the top of the ladder for the most dedicated players to set a high-skill meta without forcing their playstyle.

How Does The New Mode Work?

If you haven’t tested the Ranked Leagues yet, but really want to learn how it works, let us give you a few helpful clues:

  • Series and Resets

All leagues will take place in competitive periods called Series. Currently, the developers find it hard to say exactly how regularly these Series will take place, so we are still waiting for official updates on this.

  • Ranks

In total, there are six players’ levels: Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, Diamond, and Apex Predator. All of them, except the last one, also feature four divisions. Thus, every player who enters the league starts with the lowest rank and division – Bronze IV and competes to climb the ladder higher. In the following Series, players who have reached certain progress should have a different starting point.

Players’ scores in the Ranked Leagues are tracked with RP (Ranked Points) that they earn during each match based on their performance. Here is how the RPs are awarded:

  • Kills: 1-5RP
  • Top 10: 2RP
  • Top 5: 4RP
  • Top 3: 7RP
  • Top: 12RP

Thus, in total, every player has a chance to score a maximum of 17RP in a single match.

Also, it is worth noting that matches cost you a certain amount of RP and the higher progress you get, the more it costs to join the battle:

  • Bronze matches are free
  • Silver matches cost 1RP
  • Gold matches cost 2RP
  • Platinum matches cost 3RP
  • Diamond matches cost 4RP
  • Apex Predator matches cost 5RP

Climbing the Ladder

Ladder movement is one of the essential tasks for every player in the Ranked Leagues. The more you play, the more you score and, respectively, the further you climb the ladder. Thus, tracking your statistics is especially important when playing in this mode. So, here is a small tip for all players – the easiest way to keep track of your success is to use ApexStat.

What Are The Rewards?

Of course, most players are wondering what benefits they can get from playing in the Ranked League. To satisfy the players’ ambitions, the developers have introduced several pleasant rewards. First and foremost, players who compete in the league receive recognition of their ranks and skills, which is the most valuable reward in the developers’ opinion. Also, competitive players will be awarded badges and other exciting rewards for their accomplishments.

Are There Any Penalties?

Respawn has designed the new mode as a high-reward and high-stakes environment aimed at the most skilled and committed players. Since the stakes are so high, there will be a number of penalties to watch out for.

There is a matchmaking penalty applied to users who abandon their teammates. This penalty is applied when a player leaves the game before the match is over and it will cause a restriction on joining the battle for a specific time.

Loss Forgiveness

The developers included loss forgiveness in the new mode, which basically lowers the potential RP scored in a match to zero. This only applies to the cases when players lose RP from the match.

Also, the same measures will be applied to players whose teammates have abandoned them, as well as to those who have left the game due to certain errors that have nothing to do with the player himself.

How Will Matchmaking Work Now?

Finally, one more thing to bear in mind is that developers are planning to monitor the matchmaking process and making regular updates to it in order to ensure better timing.
