Battlefield 4: Battlescreen for PC and Next-gen Consoles Only
Electronic Arts have made some serious changes to the Battlelog system which links to Battlefield 3. The upheaval has happened to improve the in-game social network in time for the release of Battlefield 4 in October.
The Battlelog portal was far more popular on the PC due to it being web-based, unlike the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 version. For this reason the feature will not be included in the 360 and PS3 releases of Battlefield 4.
"Battlelog is powered by the web, and that has a lot of implications. There are a lot of different things you can do, things you can do faster, rather than building stuff in native code." Nielsen told Engadget.
This means that the second-screen ability of Battlelog, which is currently only functional for the Battlescreen (minimap), stats, loadouts, and server browsing, will only be available for next-gen consoles and PCs.
Whilst the second-screen gaming is currently fairly limited the devs are looking into ways of expanding its use to make for a more exciting and revolutionary experience. Of course when you're in the middle of a fast-paced shooter, looking at a screen other than the one your avatar is in might be the most productive thing in the world, so it will be interesting to see the sorts of things that end up being implemented.
If you haven't already seen the video for the new Battlelog and its features you can take a look below.

Still not sure if I'm buying this after the fiasco of pay to have all gear in BF3, I worked hard to earn certain weapons and addons. Whilst not having delved deep into BF4, from what I've seen it's much the same same as BF3. :(
