OG Unwrapped 2022 Overview

OG Unwrapped 2022 Overview

Outright Games has just shown off its first ever digital showcase, OG Unwrapped, and given us about half an hour’s look at their upcoming slate of titles. You may have just watched it on YouTube, but I saw it early and had a Q&A session with some of the developers! Make sure to read our individual news posts as they go live on the site for information on each individual game.

Host Lauran Carter (Head of Communications at Outright Games) kicked things off by teasing that we’d be seeing several unreleased titles due out in 2022. This led into the first game, the previously unannounced DreamWorks Dragons: Legends of the Nine Realms.

Set over 1,000 years after the events of How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World, aheartfulofgames is bringing us the first game in the franchise to only feature dragons. In DreamWorks Dragons: Legends of the Nine Realms there are no humans, and we saw some gameplay footage of the playable characters: Thunder, Wu & Wei, Feathers, and Plowhorn. Then Creative Director Juan Raigada and Producer/Designer Santiago R. Bedate explained how the studio was already a fan of the franchise, and a bit about the story. It’s coming to PC, Xbox X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and Google Stadia in Autumn 2022.

Lauran Carter returned to thank the studio and excitedly talked about Outright Games’ relationship with Nickelodeon, then introduced the latest title based on the PAW Patrol franchise — PAW Patrol: Grand Prix.

As you might expect, PAW Patrol: Grand Prix sees the pups and their leader Ryder participating in the Pup Grand Prix. It’s a classic kart game with each pup’s vehicle having special abilities, and is the first racing game based on the franchise. We heard from Producer Roberta Miglori, Game Designers Sara Valdameri & Alex De Nittis, and Lead Programmer Andrea Tofano from developer 3DClouds, who talked about how the four-player couch co-op will have various accessibility options for gamers of all ages. It will be available on the 30th of September 2022 on Xbox X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, PC, and Google Stadia.

After a brief gameplay trailer, Lauran Carter came back to introduce a short segment celebrating all of the content creators who have supported Outright Games. She then popped back to show us L.O.L. Surprise! B.Bs Born To Travel.

Taking the form of a top-down co-op game much like certain cooking titles, L.O.L. Surprise! B.Bs Born To Travel has you and your friends putting together bespoke L.O.L. Surprise! Balls and delivering them to happy customers. There are also mini-games! Unfortunately, nobody from developer Xaloc Studios jumped in to talk about it. L.O.L. Surprise! B.Bs Born To Travel is coming to Xbox X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, PC, and Google Stadia on 7th of October 2022.

Appearing once more, Lauran Carter let us know that the game I’d been waiting to hear about was finally making its appearance: Star Trek Prodigy: Supernova.

Combat World 2

Playing either solo or couch co-op with another player, take control of Dal R’El and/or Gwyndala as they attempt to save their crew before a supernova destroys the U.S.S. Protostar. Star Trek Prodigy: Supernova is a fixed-camera action-adventure game developed by Tessera Studios in association with the creators of the show. After some gameplay, we heard from Lead Producer José Manuel Camacho and Lead Designer Pedro Massanet who talked about the story and how it will feature three brand-new planets to play across. Star Trek Prodigy: Supernova is coming to Xbox X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, PC, and Google Stadia on 14th of October 2022.

Lauran Carter finished things off by summing up the OG Unwrapped, and letting us see a short trailer for My Little Pony: A Maretime Bay Adventure. Finally, we were teased that more information will be revealed about all of the games shown will be revealed in the coming months.

Did I say finished things off? Because things actually ended with a teaser for a Justice League Game from Outright Games! It’s coming to PC and all of the consoles, like everything else covered here, some time in 2023.

So, there you have it, OG Unwrapped 2022 in all of its glory. Which games stood out to you? Looking forward to anything in particular? Let us know in the comments.
