Short Thought: Sony’s Network Sucks!
Sony has been bringing out consoles since 1994, and now we are up to the PlayStation 5. Will they bring out more PlayStations? Some hope so, but if it does, Sony needs to look into fixing a lot of the issues that PlayStation players have been having for years.
In my household, we have a very good internet speed. If you do, too, you might have thought that by now, your newest PlayStation would be able to download a new game in seconds/minutes or even be able to stream a game perfectly without having to download it. Well, sadly, we all thought wrong. Sony hasn’t worked out how to make it download faster or even hold streaming without it having to buffer and lag.

This can get very annoying because you can stream a game faster than having to download it, but streaming is also a pain to use because no matter what game, it always has an issue with lagging. My husband tried to play Ratchet & Clank: Tools of Destruction whilst the PlayStation 5 streamed it, and yet it kept lagging or freezing even with a very good internet connection and speed. That’s the only way to play the game, too, because it’s a PlayStation 3 game, so discs won’t work on the PlayStation 5.
Running a network test, the PS5 says that everything is fine. The console is directly above the router, about 2m away, separated by a floor (which is why it’s not connected via cable). But if a single phone is connected to the internet at the same time, Ratchet will just run into a bottomless pit because of connection “issues”. If I want to download a game, I can set it going, but then I can’t stream a game, a show, or even browse the store without major buffering issues until the game has downloaded.
Meanwhile, the Xbox Series X will do it all and ask for more. Sure, it might have the odd glitch here or there when downloading and streaming a game, but at least I can watch a streaming show or browse the store without issues.
