Time To Clown On AI Some More
I never miss an opportunity to clown on AI because, quite frankly, I'm not a fan of it nor the “artists” that use it. So, when I saw this tiny videogame-related AI tidbit recently, I had to say something and reassure everyone (myself included) that AI is still a complete idiot.
Feast your eyes…

And it continues here…

(Full disclosure: the AI does also list some genuinely difficult bosses, too.)
Now, for those unaware, “Rick the Door Technician” is not a hard boss in Star Wars Jedi: Survivor. Conversely, he is one of the easiest things to kill in all of videogames because he is a joke boss. The man sits only a single rung higher on the videogame bosses difficulty scale than those that die immediately in cutscenes — like Decoy Octopus from Metal Gear Solid. And yet, this helpful tool is reporting otherwise.
So why has it done this? Well, the AI has obviously swept the internet searching for something along the lines of “What is the hardest boss in Jedi Survivor?”. In doing so, it would have combed through message boards that had discussed that topic, and then drawn a conclusion from its findings. However, the humans who have written on those boards have lied (for fun and quite obviously), and in having done so, inadvertently confused some software that does not understand humour or wider human behaviours.
In an age that demands instant gratification, AI providing us all with answers quickly rather than accurately seems to be the reason for its deployment. Which begs a question that I shall leave you to think about: if both AI and humans have their flaws, why even choose an AI over a human? Increased speed means nothing when what was asked is replied to incorrectly.
Now, I know that this was a very swift article, but I was compelled to act on what I had seen. I think that people's willingness to wholeheartedly and entirely hand over the reins to AI is genuinely shocking, and I consider any opportunity to defend our creatives’ corner a victory. If nothing else, take away from this article some understanding that this modern, advanced AI model is not the perfect human replacement that some would have you believe; it's still the same old, dumb thing (just repackaged) that spat out those wonky videogame NPCs we loved 20+ years ago.
