GameSir G7 Pro Review
I’ve had a GameSir controller for a few years now, and it’s always been good to use on my phones. However, the GameSir G7 Pro is more than just an Android controller, it also connects to Xbox Series X|S and the PC — and I was happy to find it will connect to the Meta Quest 3, too!
In the box, you get a Charging Station, a USB Receiver, two replaceable D-pads, a Cable Retainer, and a 3m Type-C Cable. What I really like about the Charging Station is that you can plug the Receiver into it, but it’s hidden away beneath it. So, you have the option of using it independently of the Charging Station.

The G7 Pro itself has all of the usual Xbox Series X|S-style buttons, but it also has an M button on the face. What does it do? It’s used for swapping between configurations set up in the GameSir Nexus Windows app.
On the bottom are the pairing and mute buttons as well as a 3.5mm headphone jack, and on the underside is where it gets interesting. As well as a customisable L4 and R4 button, there is the mode switch to change if it’s connecting via Bluetooth or the Receiver.

There are also four other switches, two lock either the L4 or R4, and the other two lock the L2 or R2 triggers. While the 4s are locked and won’t function, the 2s instead change from a gradual push to an instant one — so they work like the face buttons instead of triggers. Unsuitable for driving games, but maybe you want a faster gun finger?
Along the top side of the controller are two more customisable buttons, L5 and R5, as well as the USB-C port. This can be covered by the removable Cable Retainer I mentioned from the box contents, to make sure you’re less likely to snap something off.

There’s one feature of the controller which I don’t understand: the magnetic swappable faceplate. Availability, at least in the UK, appears as though they can be purchased from a handful of different retailers, none of which is GameSir itself, and each one only has a single colour. So, there isn’t a lot of variety, though previous model G7 faceplates are apparently compatible. I wouldn’t mind, because when you remove the faceplate, it’s clear plastic underneath, and I’d love to use it as-is — except dust would get in through the gaps, and both analog sticks catch in certain directions.
Using the GameSir G7 Pro is seamless, honestly, it works just as well as any other controller I’ve tried out. The app allows you to set up the customisable buttons easily, and it allows for a variety of other options, such as altering the vibrations and gyroscope. The Charging Station sits the controller on perfectly, which is good because it isn’t magnetic. The mode switch allows you to swap devices quickly, and I would definitely recommend this if you’re after a wireless controller for PC or Android, or a wired controller for Xbox Series X|S.

While the price approaches £100 if you want to change the faceplate, this is a great wireless controller which can also be used wired (depending on your device).
