Obsidian Glass Superglide Mousepad Review

Obsidian Glass Superglide Mousepad Review

I’ve been using the QPAD Obsidian Glass Superglide Mousepad for a couple of weeks, and honestly, it’s different to what I was expecting. Although, to be honest, I’m not one hundred percent certain what that was…

The tempered glass surface is ridiculously smooth — my mouse just glides effortlessly across it. If my wrist is getting hot, I can just shift it to another section of the 400mm square surface to quickly cool down.

It’s made up of a scratch-resistant windshield-grade glass surface and a non-slip rubber base. That’s it. If you don’t want multiple layers, fabrics, and cushions, then this is the hefty unit for you. It weighs 1.5kg; what else in your gaming setup weighs that much? It’s not going anywhere, and that’s a huge plus.

The size was honestly difficult to arrange on my desk. I’ve had to move my keyboard to the side, because of its attached wrist rest, and one of my monitors is half-standing on a portion of it. It all works, and I’ve adapted to my keyboard being displaced 5cm to the left, but just in case measure your space before you buy.

If I had to nitpick, it’s definitely heavier than your average mouse pad, so it’s not something you’d want to move around a lot. But honestly, that’s part of what makes it feel so premium.

Priced at almost £100, I’m not sure that I’d recommend the Obsidian Glass Superglide Mousepad over any other mat. It’s good quality and certain to last longer than a material one, though, so like clothes and shoes, if you want something that will last longer, then you have to pay a bit more.

Obsidian Glass Superglide Mousepad Review

A good quality, if expensive, alternative to fabric mats.
