100 Classic Atari Games Coming to Steam
For many gamers, Atari were the company that started it all. Their ultra-successful VCS system, later rebranded as the Atari 2600 was the king of home consoles in the 70s and 80s. Unfortunately for the former giant, Nintendo arrived and stole much of their thunder. That, combined with some poor business decisions, led to a bankruptcy and a number of buyouts since. The brand is now used by the company formerly known Infogrames for an number of their brands.
In an attempt to rekindle nostalgic memories of those early days of gaming, Atari are releasing a hundred classic games in one mega Steam bundle. There's no word yet on the full list of games, but they have promised Asteroids, Centipede, Missile Command, Tempest and Warlords to begin with. All the games will feature online multiplayer and Steam Leaderboard support as well.
The company will be at PAX South event to show off the collection, set to be available in the Spring. As well as the Atari Vault, they will be showing off the much anticipated RollerCoaster Tycoon World and the LGBT carnival simulator Pridefest.
