Blizzard To Stop Reporting World of Warcraft Subscriber Numbers

Blizzard To Stop Reporting World of Warcraft Subscriber Numbers

In their latest earnings conference call Blizzard Activision have released the latest subscriber numbers for World of Warcraft: Warlords of Draenor and announced that it will be the last time that they do so.

The game has 5.5 million subscribers currently, a low point for a game that once hit 12.5 million subs. During the earnings call the company was quoted as saying there are other metrics that are better indicators of the overall Blizzard business performance.

Whether this is something that will stop the constant stream of "WoW is dying!" forum threads or not, it doesn't change the fact that this is a nine year low for the venerable MMO.

"These may be the lowest since we began, but we can guarentee you won't see them go any lower!"
