Burnout Spiritual Successor Teased
Burnout may of completely dropped off the map since Criterion and EA lost interest and instead focused on their current Need for Speed franchise.
So now, Three Fields Entertainment, a relatively new developer founded by ex-Criterion members Alex Ward and Fiona Sperry, have been teasing with a possible spiritual successor to the high-octane, crashing bliss arcade racer, Burnout.
In a set of tweets, Three Fields Entertainment confirmed that their first title will be a "multiplayer sports game" arriving in Spring 2016 and their next title will be a driving game and this is where things got interesting.
What sort of driving game you ask? A spiritual successor. Speed. Traffic. And Crashing. Lots and lots of crashing. #ShinyRedSomething

Excite. A successor to one of the greatest racing games ever made? But which one?
Spiritual successor to which one though??? The second, the third or the fourth one?? #decisions

This could only mean good news! A spiritual successor based off Burnout 2, Burnout 3: Takedown or Burnout Revenge? It's too much to handle.
We haven't seen a new Burnout game since Paradise back in 2008 where things went off-rails once it went open-world and Criterion Games turned the spiritual sequel into Need for Speed: Most Wanted in 2012.
Since then Criterion have been working on a new IP with EA and since it's announcement we haven't heard much else.
It's going to be a long wait till we get anything solid from Three Fields Entertainment, but at least now, it's no longer just a dream.
