CD Projekt Red Responds to Ransom Demand

Last week it came to light that an unknown group had obtained files relating to the upcoming game Cyberpunk 2077, and were holding them for ransom. It didn't take long for developer CD Projekt Red to respond via twitter.

The response , which you can read here, states in no uncertain terms that the developer will not give in to the ransom demand, and will instead be notifying the proper authorities. They go on to say that the files in question are obsolete, and not representative of the current state of the game.

Cyberpunk 2077 was announced way back in May 2012.

CD Projekt Red is riding high off of the stellar Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, and it's upcoming spinoff Gwent: The Witcher Card Game, and seem determined not to let this unfortunate event interrupt their stride.

As for Cyberpunk 2077, if you do wish to avoid spoilers then take the developer's advice and avoid anything that looks like it pertains to these leaked files. Hopefully, we'll hear more about the upcoming game at E3, from legal sources.
