Coleco Chameleon Console Cancelled
After accusations last week that all was not right with the Coleco Chameleon project, Coleco requested a closer look at the hardware that was in prototype. Whilst they didn't speculate on accusations from the retro gaming community, it was clear that they were concerned enough to investigate. The results of those investigations are now in and it isn't good news.
In a statement on Facebook, the gaming veteran announced that the makers of the console were not in a position to demonstrate their work at the moment, so Coleco are officially ending their endorsement of the system.
The Update that you were all anxiously awaiting: Retro VGS has decided that the work that they have created is not...

It's not clear what this means for the console now as there has been no statement yet from RVGS Inc. What we can confirm though is that their Facebook and Twitter profiles, along with their official website, have all disappeared. All of this suggests that we may have seen the last of the system now. For a more tangible modern retro system, there's always the Spectrum Vega+ console instead.

Well that certainly seems to be cut and dry... Too bad that they couldn't get this off the ground.

It would appear that way. I can't see any way forward from here, even if they do get a new sponsor to replace Coleco they've lost the trust of potential buyers.

If they weren't doing something dodgy, then why wipe themselves off of the face of the internet? The only way forward is by them forming a new company.
