Crytek Release CryEngine as A Service

Crytek Release CryEngine as A Service

Crytek, the company behind the Crysis series and Ryse: Son Of Rome, has released their revolutionary CryEngine as a service.

What this means, is that any indie developer can pay a fee to use CryEngine, without involving Crytek in the project.  $9.99/€9.99 per user, per month, for a royalty-free subscription.  This makes it substantially cheaper than the Unreal Engine, which we reported here.

The reasons to use this version and not the CryEngine Free SDK tools is shown clearly in the graphics of Ryse: Son Of Rome.  The version they will be selling in May will look even better.

Those features include the recently announced addition of CRYENGINE features such as Physically Based Shading, Geometry Cache and  Image Based Lighting
