Dark Lord: The Duel Kickstarter Cancelled
Last week, we reported on a promising looking Kickstarter from Sad Jester games, Dark Lord: The Duel. The game was a sprawling Metroidvania style affiar where the entire game took the form of one large boss battle. Almost like a 2D counterpart to Shadow of the Colossus. Sadly, the crowd-funding campaign has now been cancelled, with the project returning to the hands of its original creator, Alex Tsvelov.
Tsvelov stated that he was unable to commit to work on the game due to his financial situation. Seemingly, Sad Jester were not able to wait for him as the company seem to be severing all ties. The trailer for the game has been removed from their YouTube channel, making our article look rather sad. The graphic novel planned as an extra is still being created, with some preview art being shown in Tsvelov's "final message" on the Kickstarter campaign.
In a statement within that very same post, Sad Jester said:
"From today Sad Jester Games will stop working on Dark Lord: The Duel.
It will continue to be developed in a new form under the guidance of Alex Tsvelov, the artist behind all of Dark Lord’s visuals, writer, musician and creator of DL:TD’s concept. So we know the game is in safe and capable hands! Keep an eye out because he will probably open a Patreon soon. We wish him the best of luck and can’t wait to see the game published.
We want to thank all of you (especially backers!) for your great support during the last weeks and months!"
