DayZ Announces Latest Desert Expansion in DayZ Badlands
Open-world survival darling DayZ launched back on the 13th of December 2018 by Bohemia Interactive, and the team is far from over with the gameplay. With the latest release of DayZ Forstline expansion on the 15th of October 2024, the team is looking forward to their next expansion set in the desert.
DayZ Badlands is what's next for avid fans of the title, as the still-thriving MMO survival game with thousands of players daily sees more content in the form of expansions launching. Set in the west of Chernarus and bordering Takistan's frontier, this DLC will make players fight for survival not only against the post-apocalyptic threat, but also against thirst as well.
Adding in a new element of survival, water will be a precious resource during DayZ Badlands, and this will be paired with the most extensive official map in the game's history so far, spanning 267 km². Securing a consistent and safe source of water will be an important objective in the large, spanning world, and it'll bring even more unique gameplay opportunities.
Here are the key features you need to know about DayZ Badlands:
- The Nasdara Province, a desert environment where you'll have to endure droughts, manage hydration, and survive in the harsh climate with the largest map so far.
- Plenty of things to find on the map, including dense towns, abandoned ruins, oil fields, and infrastructure that adorn this war-torn land.
- Content tailored specifically for the Nasdara Province, featuring new infected variants, loot, cosmetics, and firearms all unique to DayZ Badlands.
The announcement trailer gives us a bit of a look at the arid landscape, with some of the towns and horrors that transpired. The vast open world seems quite large in the trailer, though we don't get to see much of it aside from the destroyed town.
DayZ Badlands is set to launch sometime in 2026, with a price range "below $25", according to the DayZ Team.
