Deadly Premonition dev's new game successfully crowdfunded

The Good Life, a predictably bizarre new project from the mind behind Deadly Premonition, recently hit its Kickstarter goal of $620,000 and is officially a go.

Deadly Premonition was a weird and wild ride from Hidetaka "SWERY" Suehiro that received wildly mixed reviews that ranged from 2/10 from IGN US to a perfect 10/10 from Destructoid, and SWERY's new game, The Good Life, looks to be just as bizarre and compelling. The Good Life follows protagonist Naomi, a journalist who moves to the backwoods town of Rainy Woods in an effort to pay off her massive debt the only way she knows how: photography. Naomi is an investigative reporter and happens to stumble across the story of her life when she finds herself swept up in a murder investigation.

But of course with SWERY involved, it's not as straightforward as that. The inhabitants of Rainy Woods, you see, have a strange secret: they all turn into cats and dogs after the sun sets. And naturally, as Naomi finds herself swept up in her investigation, so too does she find herself afflicted by this strange curse.

Also involved in the project is Yukio Futatsugi, of Panzer Dragoon fame, as well as their teams at White Owls and G-Rounding.

There's still over a day left on the Kickstarter campaign, which can be found here, so anyone still hoping to support this wacky project, or perhaps pick up on some of the reward tiers, which range from copies of the game, to in game perks, to alternate costumes and other in-game content, can still get in on it. There are still a number of stretch goals left to be met as well, including a Nintendo Switch release of the game at $800,000. Those who are curious about this curious title will also find a playable prototype demo on the Kickstarter page above.
