Destiny 2 Not Coming to the Nintendo Switch, You Won’t Believe Why
Editor's Note: The astute amongst you will have probably noticed the date on this article already. This April Fools gag was brought to you by GameGrin.com.
The recently confirmed Destiny 2 will be multi-platform, but Bungie have confirmed that it won’t be coming to the Switch. This won’t come as a huge surprise, given the relative power of the console compared to the PS4 and Xbox One, however the lack of grunt isn’t the reason that Bungie have given. Instead, the developer have stated that the HD rumble feature “ruins the experience”.
In a statement, Avril Premiere in Bungie’s press office told us; “We looked at the Switch as a viable platform, and whilst it’s a strong development platform that we would like to work with, it’s not suitable for Destiny 2. The problem that we faced was with the HD rumble function in the controllers. We like to give a consistent experience across all platforms and HD rumble ruins the experience because it isn’t the same as on other platforms. The additional feedback could give Switch players an advantage over others and that is against our design philosophy.”
Why Bungie didn’t just choose to not implement the HD rumble feature is something we can’t fathom here at GameGrin, but we have reached out to Bungie for additional comment on the matter. It’s a shame, but it does give us hope that the Switch is indeed powerful enough to run more demanding titles, HD rumble excepted.
