Disney Dreamlight Valley Receives Companion Overhaul — Here's What You Need to Know
Disney Dreamlight Valley's latest update, Emotional Rescue, incorporates some changes to the Companion system, introducing some requested features and a pretty cool addition. Gameloft has been making some major overhauls to their cosy life-sim title over the years, and this one brings in another substantial change!
Companions recently got a major update that allowed them to help out in the Valley, aside from being cute followers to accompany you through your journey. Different types of pets help out by picking up specific items and increasing your inventory space, alongside offering a levelling system akin to the Villager one.
However, this latest update gives players the option to select two Companions at any given time, benefiting from both of their different abilities. This is, of course, an addition to also being able to take both characters simultaneously and not having to pick from your favourites.
The other major change is that character-specific Companions can now be assigned with their related character. This means that you can pick up some of the Companions to accompany your Villagers throughout, keeping related franchises together.
Here's who you can assign:
- Pua and Heihei can be given to either Moana or Maui
- Figaro can be given to Minnie
- The Foolstool can be given to The Beast or Belle
- Dinah can be given to Alice
- Magic Carpet can be given to either Aladdin or Jasmine
- Max can be given to Prince Eric (maybe he'll finally stop asking where he is)
- Maleficent's Raven can be given to Maleficent (requires The Storybook Vale expansion)
This update is available now as of the 20th of August 2025!
