Double Fine Take to Crowdfunding Again for PsychoNauts 2
Tim Schafer and Double Fine are certainly no strangers to Kickstarter, having successfuly launched a number of games with the help of their fans already. They're now returning to one of their previous IPs in the form of a sequel to 2005's PsychoNauts. Whilst it wasn't the most commercially successful game they've ever released, it was a huge critical success and has gained somethign of a cult following since.
They're using the crowd funding website fig for their latest campaign, which has raised $1.2million of its $3.3million target at the time of writing. The figure is currently rising quickly though and has increased by nearly $100,000 during the composition of this article.
If you haven't played the original PsychoNauts (like our editor hadn't until August this year) then you can get a free digital copy automatically by backing the second. It was a 3D platform-puzzler that included the addition of psychic powers for your controllable character. Featuring a huge dose of Tim Schafer's trademark off-the-wall humour, it found a place in the hearts of many gamers and whilst it didn't sell brilliantly at retail, it's had a massive second wind through a re-release on Steam. This sequel, if funded, will be with us by the Autumn of 2018
