E3 2021: Back 4 Blood Showcase

Naomi Kyle and Brandon Yanez talked about how this is better than Turtle Rock's previous games, as they put their experience to good use, as they should.

We were shown some footage of Cleaners vs Ridden PvP matches, and were told that teams swap sides like in football. Points are scored for how long the cleaners survive, and the winners are the ones who have the most points after four rounds. Brandon's favourite character is Mom.

We then saw a longer look at how the Ridden will play in matches. Each type of Ridden has its strengths and weaknesses, much like the Cleaners have their own weapons and abilities. Mutations are available that affect the whole team for an entire match, though we weren't shown those in action.

Brandon talked a little about how each Ridden can be utilised in different ways to herd the Cleaners, or catch them unawares. His favourite Ridden is the Tallboy.

They covered the weapons quickly, mentioning that they are customisable, letting you add stocks, sights and all sorts of things that you find in the map. Brandon's favourite weapon is Mom's shotgun.

If you're eager to play, there is an open beta starting on 12th of August, but if you pre-order you can get access on the 5th of August.

Back 4 Blood is coming 12th of October on Xbox One, Xbox X|S, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4 and PC.
