EA and Lucasfilm Games Announces three New Star Wars Games
On the 25th of January Electronic Arts and Lucasfilm Games announced that three new Star Wars games are currently in the works, all of which being worked on by Respawn Entertainment, best known for Apex Legends, Titanfall and Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order. Group GM and Founder of Respawn, Vince Zampella will be overseeing this new era of EA’s relationship with Lucasfilm, building on the great foundation that they’ve built for themselves with Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order.
The first of these new projects is the much expected sequel to the aforementioned narrative driven title, with Stig Asmussen at the helm as game director for the next adventure into the Star Wars Jedi series. The other two teams are working on diversifying the portfolio of modern Star Wars games. Peter Hirschmann who is a game director at Respawn is currently leading a team to develop an all-new first-person-shooter in the Star Wars universe. The last title will be a Star Wars strategy game which is being developed through a collaboration with the recently formed studio Bit Reactor, led by the industry veteran Greg Foerstch. Respawn will produce this strategy game while Bit Reactor takes lead on the development.
“We are excited to continue working with the superbly talented developers at Respawn”. “They have demonstrated excellence in telling epic Star Wars stories along with best-in-class gameplay across different genres and we are looking forward to bringing more amazing experiences to the galaxy far, far away”. These are the words of Douglas Reilly, the VP of Lucasfilm Games.
“Building on the previous successes of our EA relationship, this new collaboration highlights the trust and mutual respect shared between the world-class teams at EA, Respawn and Lucasfilm Games,” said Sean Shoptaw, SVP at Walt Disney Games. “Fostered by the expertise and passion within each team, we will create thrilling original games for diverse audiences across the Star Wars galaxy.”
Peter Hirschmann had some words to share about the upcoming Star Wars first-person-shooter currently in development. “Working with Lucasfilm Games on a new FPS in the Star Wars galaxy is a dream come true for me, as this is a story I have always wanted to tell,”. Peter has previously worked as VP of development at LucasArts, and was also executive producer on the original Battlefront games. The new FPS title is extremely early in development.
Each of these newly announced games are currently being worked on, to help with this new workload Respawn is looking for fresh talent to join their team.
