EA Apologises for April Fools' Joke Aimed at Nintendo

EA Chief Operating Officer Peter Moore took to Twitter to apologise for a selection of cruel April Fools' jokes tweeted from the official account of the Frostbite video game engine.

The tweets targeted Nintendo and the Wii U but have since been deleted. This comes on the back of EA's announcement last year that it currently has no games in development for the Wii U and that the Frostbite Engine 3 will not support the console.

The tweets derided the Wii U for its lack of power, but were largely found to be in bad taste.

"Good news, we have finally fixed and optimized our 'netcode'. Uses quantum entanglement for Zero Latency connections. Exclusively on #WiiU."

"Frostbite will power #HalfLife3, coming out summer 2014! #WiiU exclusive."

"Frostbite now runs on the #WiiU since it is the most powerful Gen4 platform, our renderer is now optimized for Mario and Zelda."
