EA Responds to Fan Concerns Over The Sims 4

In a blog post titled What's Out, What's In, EA have addressed fan concerns that there will be no swimming pools or toddlers in the base version of The Sims 4. Kind of.

The fact is, we owe you a clearer explanation for why pools and toddlers will not be in The Sims 4 at launch, so here goes.

- Rachel Franklin, Executive Producer, EA

She then continues on to list all of the things they have put into the game, such as seven walking styles, facial animations to help show the Sim's mood, multi-tasking and a better Create A Sim and Build Mode. 320 emotion-based animations, 600 object reactions, completely new AI and movement systems.... Rachel sums it up herself:

So, rather than include toddlers, we chose to go deeper on the features that make Sims come alive

- Rachel Franklin, Executive Producer, EA

But she never clarifies why those features took away the ability to implement toddlers or swimming pools. A lot of fans are saying that Toddlers are exactly what "makes Sims come alive." It would have been much clearer had she simply stated "We felt out programmers were best utilised making the Sim personalities better and not the texture of the water."

But as she didn't, leading us to only assume it is so EA can bring out The Sims 4: Toddler's First Christmas Pool expansion pack in December.
