Elite: Dangerous Appears on Steam

Frontier Developments surprised everyone - or rather Valve did it for them - when Elite Dangerous popped up on Steam today.

There has been no official announcement and the weekly newsletter doesn't even contain the word "Steam", so it's unclear if it was supposed to hit Steam today, or if someone pushed the button early as it were.

Frontier have mentioned on the forums that they are "looking into" giving Steam keys to all current users, who have been using the external client.

Other titles such as IL2 Sturmovik have come under fire for taking a long time to address this issue upon moving to Steam, so it remains to be seen how fans will react in the coming weeks.
