Everything New to Age of Wonders 4 in the Gargoyle Update

Age of Wonders 4 is getting a lot of love from its developer, Triumph Studios and publisher Paradox Entertainment, as it received a new DLC, a new free DLC for those who missed the pre-order, a free weekend, and the latest update. Speaking of newcomers, the Gargoyle Update has made the onboarding experience much smoother. New players will get a better tutorial, as it has been expanded in many ways, including the Advices system being removed in place of full tutorials and additional Tooltips. The outdated ones have been changed and even given new voice-overs!

Since this is a major update, there have also been various fixes, balance changes, and quality-of-life improvements:

• New Infusions have been added to the Item Forge.
• Various Abilities and Passives have been added to auto-generated Rewards for players to add to their gear.
• The AI Auto Combat behaviour with Spellcasting Toggle has been fine-tuned.
• On the World Map, players can now set perCombat Spell, whether the AI is allowed to use it during Auto Combat.
• Combat Enchantments visuals have been updated to offer more information.

The Dark Ruling Cults have been reworked so they interact more closely with the existing Hero Systems. Namely, the Cult of Tyranny wants domination as the ultimate show of power: oppressing Vassals and exploiting cities. Their specialisation is to debilitate their opponent!

The Cult of Death sacrifices the norm and a tool for those in power; their units gain more strength from casualties of both their foes and their own people. Critical strikes are more commonplace as slaughter happens.
