Famous Wild Rift Game Mode Debuts in League of Legends Soon

League of Legends' third season of the year, Trials of Twilight, is officially underway, with most of the first Act having already come and gone. During this time, we've had the opportunity to check out the official comic of the season, a teaser for what might be the new champion, and more, and Riot Games has began the transition towards the second, and final, Act of the year.

Season 3 Act 2: Trials of Twilight will be bringing the final champion of the year, and though we don't have a lot of information about whether the final Darkin will be the champion or not (though its easy to assume yes), the latest Dev Update gave us a glimpse at the game mode that we'll be able to enjoy throughout the final season, and it's one that originally launched in Wild Rift first.

While League of Legends and its mobile counterpart are both run by Riot Games, the development philosophies between the two have been very drastically different. Still, the PC version has been learning things from the mobile one, bringing in a few design changes — both good and bad. Whether it's the gacha elements that have been introduced or the multi-seasonal approach to the year, Wild Rift has been affecting Riot Games' debut title quite heavily.

The latest change to join is the game mode named ARAM Mayhem. Taking place in the all-random game mode (which can no longer only be called Howling Abyss), the champions will be randomised for everyone, and even during the game, new Arena-like augments will be handed out to players, letting you customise your match even further.

It doubles (triples? quadruples?) down on the randomisation element of ARAM, giving it a roguelike feel, as truly no two matches will ever be the same. Whether it's the champion you're playing, the team composition you're in, the enemy team's group, or the augments that'll appear throughout, ARAM Mayhem will be truly chaotic.

It's no surprise that the natural evolution from the one-year trial to Arena would evolve into the launch of ARAM Mayhem on League of Legends (known as Hextech ARAM in Wild Rift), but it's still exciting that Riot Games is focusing more on the for-fun game modes. Whether it's the return of the beloved Doom Bots, the launch of Brawl, or even making changes to ARAM by introducing random maps and augments, it seems the team is starting to focus a bit more on how to keep the game interesting beyond the Summoner's Rift.

ARAM Mayhem launches in Patch 25.21 on the 22nd of October 2025.
