Fatal Frame V Announced as Wii U Exclusive

Nintendo and developers Tecmo Koei have teamed up to work on a new entry in the Fatal Frame survival horror franchise, it has been announced in a recent issue of Famitsu. This latest instalment in the franchise is tentatively titled Fatal Frame V and has been confirmed as a WiiU exclusive, but a release date has not been given.

Tecmo Koei have also stated that they intend to expand on the franchise’s current success in Japan by developing the series in other forms of media lncluding a live action movie, novels,and manga.

Whilst this is the fifth entry in the main console series in Japan, the most recent title to be released overseas was a remake of Fatal Frame II: Crimson Butterfly for the Wii in June 2012 which was released in Europe, but not America. No announcement has been made as to whether Fatal Frame V will receive an international release.
