Fig Announce Their 'Finishing Fund'

Fig are stepping up their game to support even more indie developers realise their visions. Citing Steam's recent controversial decision to extend more fees for publishing, the crowdfunding company are committing up to half a million dollars to assist the marketing and publishing of some successful campaigns.

The company have stated a guaranteed figure of at $20k Fig Funds from the investment side of the campaign ( meaning either Fig itself of the network of investors) for all campaigns that attract over a thousand backers.

The idea behind the promotion is to allow developers to put more of their funds into the game itself such as polishing games or supporting more languages. The fund can be used to pay platform fees and market the title, leaving the developer in a better position to complete their game without having to worry as much about the associated non-development costs.

Tim Schafer's adventure Psychonauts 2 is one of Fig's higher-profile crowd-funded titles.

In a statement on their website, Fig said: "This program further aligns us and our community of investors, developers and fans. Investors benefit because this increases the chance that titles they’ve invested in come to market successfully and reach their intended audiences. Fans also benefit when their favorite titles get a better shot at being published.

We believe strongly in the need for titles not only to be offered on major publishing platforms such as Steam Direct, but also to have funds to conduct the marketing that can be crucial to the success of those games."
