Fighting Fantasy: The Warlock Of Firetop Mountain to be Digitally Re-Imagined
If you're of a certain age, then it's likely you'll be familier with Steve Jackson and Ian Livingstone's Fighting Fantasy series, If you're not, then I will explain. They were a "choose your own adventure" series of books that pitted you as the hero in a Dungeons and Dragons style adventure using dice rolls to combat foes. There were 50 books released throughout the '80s and '90s; the first and arguably most popular of which was The Warlock of Firetop Mountain.
The staff at Tin Man Games were certainly fans of the series, and so far, with the blessing of the original authors, they have already released a number of the books digitally. The first three books they have released have all been text based but their latest Kickstarter campaign aims to take things a little further, with a fully realised 3D world based on tabletop gaming.
In order to create realistic looking figurines to behave as your in-game avatars, Tin Man are working with Otherworld Miniatures, a creator of real pewter character models. The blank models are scanned into imaging software and then coloured by hand so as to give a real model feel to the game.
The game has already more than doubled its funding target of 15,000AUD and with 21 days to go, the team are well into their stretch targets. The next goal of 40k will enable them to create a digital gamebook version alongside the animated game. If you fancy joining nearly 900 backers of the game, then head on along to Kickstarter for more details.
