First Class Trouble Returns to Rightful Team After Turbulent Few Years

First Class Trouble is a party game where players work together and against each other to survive. With some players being impostors, you'll need to work out through deduction who you can't trust in a 3D Among Us–like gameplay, where you need to work together... but anyone could be evil.

Originally developed by Invisible Walls and published by Versus Evil, the title came out back in the 1st of November 2021 to quite a big success, having millions of players across the globe. However, since then, the title has stagnated massively, and it turns out that rights disputes between the developer and publisher are to blame.

In a Steam news post titled "The Future of First Class Trouble", Invisible Walls shares surprisingly uplifting information about what's to come to the game. While the name itself raises hairs on point in a world pre-Stop Killing Games, it's actually good news for fans of the game and the original developers.

CEO of Invisible Walls, David, shares information about what's been happening behind the scenes for a few years. The news post details that the developer lost the rights to the title, and their creative progress had been hindered by the previous IP holders.

First Class Trouble was just three weeks away from server shutdown due to mismanagement, but in 2025, the rights were returned to Invisible Walls impromptu. Thanks to this, and with the support of backend partner AccelByte, the servers have been saved, and it'll continue to grow.

The whole letter gives players a big thank-you message for sticking around and shares information about what we can expect for First Class Trouble moving forward. Here are the specifics we know:

  • The game is being upgraded from Unreal Engine 4 to Unreal Engine 5 to improve stability, performance, and compatibility for future platforms.
  • New content is in the works, including a new map in the early stages of development.
  • Quality-of-life improvements, some which might "drastically change how the game is played".

While these are all vague pieces of information, David shares that we'll hear more about this in the coming months, "way before 2026".
