Five Nights At Freddy's Creator Hires Legal Team

Five Nights At Freddy's creator, Scott Cawthon has hired a legal team in aid to determine who has sold an unauthorised sequel of his game in the iOS app store. The game has been sold under Lazada Polodi, an unknown person.

The legal team for Scott Cawthon has issued a subpoena that requests Apple to provide information regarding the identity of Lazada Polodi. The information will include I.P. addresses for where the unauthorised game was uploaded from, anyone else associated with the upload and things such as user accounts.

The game has since been removed from the iOS app store but the release of it infringes upon Cawthon's creation. It being sold as a sequel to his game without his permission and also including copyrighted images.

Scott Cawthon is well within his rights to demand a subpoena to Apple as U.S copyright law states:

A copyright owner or a person authorized to act on the owner’s behalf may request the clerk of any United States district court to issue a subpoena to a service provider for identification of an alleged infringer in accordance with this subsection.

They shouldn't have to hire a legal team, Apple should be sorting this out for them, it's not the first time it has happened on iOS or Android store either.

With the amount of clones on both the iOS and Android store I wouldn't be surprised if it's been ignored.

I dare say Apple couldn't give two hoots about it to be honest. Gotta drive up those markeplace numbers!

To be fair, I know of more issues on Android Play Store than iOS, Most of the ones I know of on the Android are also using big game names to submit viruses.

Poor Windows store not even getting a mention. Although, the same happens there too!
