Last week, a leak for a follow-up to the hit battle royale game Fortnite was leaked on the Italian Apple App Store, and now the title has been officially confirmed following the end of Fornite’s 10th season.
Many of the previously speculated new features for Fortnite Chapter 2 have since been confirmed, with the most notable being a brand new island where players can fight for survival. In the two years since its launch, Fortnite has been set on a single island with slight geographical alterations providing the variety, so an entirely new location sets a clean slate for the near future of the franchise.
There are other fundamental gameplay changes as well, including water-based gameplay that supports swimming, fishing and motorboats. More squad interactions are available now as well, with players being able to carry their teammates out of dangerous situations if they’ve become incapacitated.
Combat is also seeing a few notable tweaks and overhauls. In addition to the arsenal of weapons being more streamlined in Chapter 2, players can also upgrade these weapons at weapon benches. Players can ambush their opponents with these upgraded weapons via new hiding spots such as haystacks and dumpsters, and use them on gas tanks and explosive barrels to cause major damage.
Lastly, players will be able to earn experience and level up through even more means than before, such as earning medals in matches for performing different tasks and challenges.
Fortnite Chapter 2 is available now on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, PC and Android.
