Fortnite Chapter 4 is Live & Using More of Unreal Engine 5!

Fortnite Chapter 4 is live and using more of Unreal Engine 5! The new Chapter brings forth an entirely new Island to explore, different ways to get around, freshly-forged weapons, and a brand-new Battle Pass featuring some new faces. This chapter’s arrival comes just after the Chapter 3 Finale, Fracture.

After Chapter 3’s Finale events, a new Island has formed, and the new locations include a towering castle called The Citadel, the snowy mountains of Brutal Bastion, the vast farmland in Frenzy Fields, and more. There are new augmented abilities, too, so at intervals during a match, players will be given a chance of two Reality Augments, allowing them to customise their play. The longer they remain in a match, the more Reality Augments last until the match’s end. For example, two of the Augmented Reality features include Light Fingers, which makes players’ weapons using Light Ammo reload faster and, Aerialist, which grants players Glider redeploy for the rest of the match.

Players who purchase this season’s Battle Pass will immediately unlock the celestial-connected Selene. Progressing through the Battle Pass will also unlock the Doom Slayer, The Ageless, and more. Later this season, players will be able to unlock the monster hunter for hire, Geralt of Rivia. Plus, Fortnite runs on Unreal Engine 5.1 now, so prettier graphics are the standard for this battle royale! It uses the engine's newest features, such as Nanite, Lumen, Virtual Shadow Maps, and Temporal Super Resolution.

You can experience those prettier graphics today as the Fortnite update is available now on PlayStation 5, Xbox X|S, PC, and via cloud gaming.
