FTL: Faster Than Light is a popular rogue like spaceship simulation game. FTL aims to recreate the atmosphere of running a spaceship exploring the galaxy. Players have to manage a crew, fix the engines, reroute power to shields and all kinds of other tasks usually found in Star Trek and the like.
FTL: Advanced Edition, the upcoming free expansion for the game, will feature a new alien race of metallic scavengers called The Lanius. These alien beings can survive in deep space without need for life support. As if that wasn't scary enough they can even drain oxygen from compartments due to their unique nature. They have remained dormant for years in space but awaken when they detect "significant metal desposits", say your ship for example.
The expansion will also feature new weapons, systems, augments, drones, equipment and enemies. Alongside this we have been promised a new space sector and new storyline. Could the Lanius be the centre of this? Check out the trailer below for a small peek at some of the new updates.
FTL: Advanced Edition is expected to launch in early 2014 alongside the ipad port of the game. The expansion will be free to those who have purchased the game on Windows PC, Linux or Mac.
