German Pro Gamer Kicked Out of America

On Friday Marcel "Dexter" Feldkamp landed in Washington. The pro gamer on the League of Legends circuit was in town for a Counter Logic Gaming (CLG) Live Tournament. However the journey was hardly straightforward as he told his fans via Twitter.

Things were about to get worse for the pro gamer as this news was followed by:

He also stated that he "spent the night in a jail cell".

These events come only weeks after news that 23 year old professional StarCraft 2 player Kim "ViOLet" Dong Hwan recently obtained a P1-A visa from the U.S. government.

When asked for comment CLG made the following statement.

Though Dexter's athlete visa is in progress, it hasn't been approved yet. He had documentation to come to the US legally through a visa waiver, but was still denied access to an extent and for reasons still unknown. Dexter is not an employee or contracted to CLG in any way. He has not been paid by the company or any of its employees, partners, or affiliates. We assume he was turned away due to the assumption he was attempting to enter the US and obtain work illegally, so this ruling greatly disappoints us if it is in fact true. Dexter is still trying out, but it is almost certain he will not be able to return to the US until he is an official employee and his athlete visa is approved.

It looks like getting that pro athlete visa is not that easy after all. Feldkamp remains positive however telling his followers.

We hope he manages to get everything sorted out soon.
